Dr. Lawrence Kacmar, MD
Dr. Kacmar is an independent family physician who is board-certified in both primary care and sports medicine. A former collegiate football athlete and active adult, Dr. Kacmar recognizes the value of preventing and treating sports injuries from the young school age athlete through the aging adult. With a focus in primary care, Dr. Kacmar is able to care for all ages from routine medical care, preventative exam or acute care needs. Dr. Kacmar remains an admitting physician at Edward Hospital.
Dr. Kacmar's practice interests include orthopedic injuries, critical illness, acute illnesses, acute injury, and patients who are chronically ill seeking a diagnosis. Dr. Kacmar's years of experience and dedication to the continued study of medicine have allowed him to have a holistic approach and updated knowledge of evidence-based working practice.
Dr. Kacmar attended Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois. His fellowship in sports medicine at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. He has remained Medical Director for The Center for Primary Care and Sports Medicine since 2002. He continues to remain committed to future physicians as a preceptor for Loyola University.
Shannon Keith, FNP-C, RN-MSN, MHA
Shannon Keith joined The Center for Primary Care and Sports Medicine in 2011. Shannon has maintained an interest in sports medicine and athletics. She has enjoyed running for most of her life and continues to participate in long distance running. Shannon's practice interests include pediatrics, athlete functional training, weight management, preventative medicine, diabetes and inflammatory disorders for all gender and ages, as well as, perimenopause and menopause women related health conditions. Shannon believes in a holistic approach to medicine and utilizing nutrition, exercise and supplements alone or in combination with pharmaceuticals.
Shannon holds a Baccalaureate and Master of Science in Health Care Administration degrees from Grand Canyon University, Master of Science in Nursing from Marquette University, Family Nurse Practitioner post masters certification from Olivet Nazarene University and board certification by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She continues to support education and the development of future nurses as an adjunct professor at Aurora University and Loyola University and preceptor for future nurse practitioners.
